Former Black Sabbath drummer Bill Ward, 78, has shared a health update nearly one year after the death of bandmate Ozzy Osbourne, announcing that he now needs to use a wheelchair in public settings such as airports. Ward stated on X that he can still walk but cannot go very far without needing to rest, and that he started using a wheelchair about 18 months ago. He emphasized that he is not in retirement, ill, or giving up, and that he will "keep rocking until I'm dead." Ward has faced various medical issues over the years, including a heart attack in 1998 and additional cardiac incidents in 2017 and 2021, as well as recent mobility issues. His announcement came just before the one-year anniversary of Ozzy Osbourne's death on July 22, 2025. Ward had previously paid tribute to Osbourne on Instagram, writing, "Where will I find you now? In the memories... Never goodbye. Thank you forever."
