Late singer Bonnie Tyler, known for hits like "Total Eclipse of the Heart," passed away at age 75 on Wednesday, July 8. Just four months before her death, Tyler had spoken to Hello! Magazine about her health, stating she felt "fit enough" and was enjoying performing. She was promoting her Jubilee Tour for the 50th anniversary of her breakthrough single when she was sidelined in May due to emergency intestinal surgery in Portugal. Her spokesperson initially confirmed the surgery went well and that she was recuperating, though she later became "seriously ill but stable." Tyler's family announced her unexpected death in a Facebook post, stating she passed away in a Portuguese hospital as a result of the illness she was being treated for. The singer, who was married to property developer Robert Sullivan for 53 years, was best known in the U.S. for her 1983 No. 1 single "Total Eclipse of the Heart" and also scored hits with "It's a Heartache" and "Holding Out for a Hero."
