A growing number of celebrity parents have defended their decisions to fly first class while their children sit in economy. Kristin Cavallari explained on a podcast that she books her three children in economy while she flies up front to teach them the value of money, saying "this is my money, this is not your money." She noted that her sons have summer jobs washing windows and garbage cans to earn their own spending money. Kelly Stafford, wife of NFL quarterback Matthew Stafford, explained that her 6-foot-3 husband sat in first class while she and their four daughters sat in economy on a flight because only three first-class seats were available. She said other passengers gave her husband disapproving looks, but she defended the decision, saying people have "bigger issues" if they judge a tall person for not sitting in the back. Jessica Simpson's ex-husband Nick Lachey revealed he ran into Simpson in first class while her children were seated separately, though Simpson said her mother bought the tickets. Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has also said he refuses to let his six children fly in first class to "keep it real."
