Character.AI is entering the microdrama market by producing its own series using AI characters, but with a unique interactive twist: users over 18 can chat with the characters, ask them questions, and roleplay different storylines. The startup is launching three initial microdramas: a romance series called "Last Summer," a horror show titled "The Nighttime Game," and a Hunger Games-like survival series named "Eden Fall." These dramas were created using AI production tools, and the company's long-term goal is to enable users to create their own characters and series. This move is part of Character.AI's broader shift toward entertainment-focused features, following the launch of tools like Lorebook for world-building and Books for inserting users into classic literature. The company is also testing c.ai FM for audio series and c.ai Reads for fiction creation. According to Sensor Tower, users spent over 950 minutes per month on Character.AI in the first half of 2026, indicating strong audience engagement with the platform.
