Emmy Rossum Recalls Marrying 1st Husband After He Gave Her an Ultimatum

Emmy Rossum revealed on the "Call Her Daddy" podcast that she married her first husband, music producer Justin Siegel, after he gave her an ultimatum. When Rossum was offered a role in "Dragon Ball Evolution" that would require her to film in Mexico, Siegel said the relationship might not survive the distance and suggested they either break up or get married. Rossum, then 21, agreed because she didn't want to experience abandonment again and thought divorce would be straightforward. Siegel printed out a marriage contract online and found someone to officiate at Rossum's house. They secretly married in February 2008, but Rossum knew it wasn't right and intended not to tell anyone. When she returned from filming six months later, it became clear they weren't a match. Rossum told her mother about the marriage only when they were separating. The divorce was finalized in December 2010. Rossum later met her current husband, Sam Esmail, while working on his film "Comet" in 2013.
