Fifa has opened an investigation following allegations of racist abuse involving American social media influencer IShowSpeed and a supporter during Argentina's 3-2 win over Cape Verde. The incident allegedly occurred at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on July 3, where the last-32 fixture took place. Footage on IShowSpeed's YouTube channel shows the 21-year-old, wearing a Cape Verde kit, in confrontation with an Argentina fan in the stands. Fifa stated that the World Cup is a celebration of unity, diversity and respect, and that anyone who undermines these values is not welcome. The alleged abuse comes days after France forward Kylian Mbappe labelled a Paraguayan senator as "despicable" after she made racist remarks following her country's defeat by France. The French football federation has announced plans to file criminal charges over those remarks.
