Chelsea's newest signing, Geovany Quenda, has been formally unveiled after reportedly agreeing to join the club 16 months ago. The Portugal Under-21 international, who is stylistically compared to Arsenal's Bukayo Saka, hopes to follow in the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo by leaving Sporting's academy for the Premier League. Born in Guinea-Bissau, Quenda moved to Portugal at age seven and his journey took him from grassroots club Damaiense to Benfica's academy before joining city rivals Sporting. Quenda's talent was evident early on, with a former youth coach recalling how he was allowed to train in jeans and shoes after an impressive first touch. His godfather, former Zaire international Basaula Lemba, played an important role in his early development. Former youth coach Fabio Roque described Quenda as "incredible and different" with an excellent attitude, noting a specific match where a confident prediction from a young Quenda preceded him scoring the winning goal. The winger has now signed a contract with Chelsea until 2034.
