IO Interactive has regained full ownership of its project, Project Fantasy, after Xbox ended its publishing and funding deal. The developer will continue to develop and fund the project independently. To find a "new balance" for the studio's future, IO Interactive will focus on its "internal core titles" rather than external projects and mobile games. As a result of these changes, the company is closing its Istanbul studio and laying off an unspecified number of employees. The renewed focus on core titles strongly suggests that the next Hitman game may be coming sooner rather than later, as IO Interactive's head previously confirmed more Hitman was planned.
