Man Utd reveal proposed 100,000-seater stadium location

Manchester United has revealed the location for their planned new 100,000-seater stadium, approximately 350 meters northwest of their existing Old Trafford ground. The club recently acquired a 25-acre site for the proposed stadium, which is currently partly used by a go-kart track. Images unveiled as part of a multi-billion pound draft masterplan for the wider Trafford Wharfside regeneration project show no tridents or canopy from the 'circus tent' concept unveiled in March 2025, but club officials insist that design has not been ditched. The plans, which would include the removal of Lou Macari's fish and chip shop, are an outline of what might be built and are not final. Collette Roche, United's new stadium development chief executive, said the club hopes to share the actual stadium design by the end of this year or early next, but refused to give a date for when the stadium might open. The 150-hectare Trafford Wharfside development would create a neighborhood with 15,000 new homes and is claimed to lead to 48,000 local jobs, with no decision yet made regarding the future of the existing Old Trafford stadium.
