The mother of actor Jeff Machado, Maria das Dores Machado, has criticized the sentence given to Jeander Vinicius da Silva Braga for her son's murder. Jeander was sentenced to 22 years and 9 months in prison for triple-qualified homicide, concealment of a corpse, and animal abuse. Maria das Dores stated she had expected a sentence of 30 to 35 years and expressed concern that good behavior could reduce the sentence further. She said she feels her "soul is washed" but considers the penalty too small and will seek to appeal to increase it. Maria das Dores also commented on the upcoming trial of the other defendant, Bruno de Souza Rodrigues, scheduled for December 2026, stating she expects the maximum sentence for him. She said she wants to be prepared "body and soul" to see him in person and feels repulsed by what he did to her son. According to the indictment, Jeander and Bruno planned and executed the murder in January 2023 to conceal a fraud scheme, with Bruno allegedly promising Jeff a role in a soap opera in exchange for R$30,000.
