Police have urged England fans at home to follow the example of supporters in the United States after over 500 domestic football-related incidents and more than 100 arrests occurred around England's World Cup quarter-final win over Norway. Chief constable Mark Roberts of the UK Football Policing Unit praised the passionate but friendly atmosphere among fans in Miami, contrasting it with the disappointing behavior in the UK, which he described as the worst tournament for incidents and arrests. The vast majority of incidents were alcohol-related, linked to extended pub licensing hours. Ahead of England's semi-final against Argentina in Atlanta, Roberts called on fans back home to enjoy the game without causing problems. The Atlanta Police Department has enhanced its security posture around event venues and entertainment districts to ensure a safe experience. The Home Office confirmed that extended licensing hours will apply to any further England matches, including the potential final.
