The total number of Xbox Game Pass subscribers has reportedly dropped to 30 million, a loss of around 4 million compared to 2024 numbers. This figure is well below Microsoft's ambitious goal of reaching approximately 77 million subscribers by July 2026, a target revealed during the FTC's investigation into the Activision Blizzard acquisition. The company had an even more ambitious goal of 100 million paid members by 2030. Microsoft previously raised the price of Game Pass Ultimate by almost 50 percent, a move seen as the cost of including Call of Duty on day one. However, this price increase caused the loss of millions of subscribers. In April, Microsoft cut the price of Game Pass and removed new Call of Duty games from being day-one offerings. Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has cited Game Pass growth troubles as a reason for the recent decision to cut 3,200 jobs from the Xbox division.
