Subnautica 2 has released its first major early access update, Adaptive Measures (version 1.1), which adds the ability to stun fish using the Sonic Resonator. Creative director Anthony Gallegos explained that the update includes "creature work" where a "bunch of" creatures now have stun states, giving players space to escape. This decision may appease players who have been clamoring for more proactive means of defending against hostile predators, though the studio has previously described the sequel's non-violent approach as something they feel "strongly about." The update also includes work on creature flinching, improvements to Blight creatures' behavior, and enhancements to BioMod stations making them more plentiful. New wreck improvements introduce "very light" puzzling and visual cohesion work, while the PDA has received UI and categorization improvements along with a playback function for audio logs. The studio reminds players that more is coming, with early access update 1.2 arriving "some weeks after" this update introducing multiplayer features, and a "big content drop" as part of a 2.0 update "later in the year" promising a new region, new creatures, and new content.
