Google Photos has introduced a new "Video Remix" feature powered by Gemini Omni, Google's recently released multimodal AI model. The tool allows users to edit and transform videos with simple taps, offering capabilities such as cinematic relighting, background swapping, and artistic style effects like watercolor or oil painting. The feature is accessible from the "Create" tab in Google Photos. The launch is part of Google's broader strategy to integrate generative AI into its consumer apps, competing with Apple, OpenAI, and Adobe. Video Remix begins rolling out on July 8, 2026, to eligible Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers in select countries including the U.S., India, Brazil, and Japan. This follows other recent AI-powered updates to Google Photos, including touch-up tools and a feature that creates a digital closet from photos of clothing.
