She described how Graham and her father quickly became "fast friends and political comrades," part of a trio with Senator Joe Lieberman that they affectionately called "The Three Amigos." Meghan remembered Graham as charming, very funny, and never boring, saying he could have had a career in stand-up comedy. She noted that he brought humor and loyalty to her father's political career and had unmatched political skills, which is why he won so many elections. She also recalled that Graham and her father would stay late at dinner tables, talking to everyone, and that life around them was "big and alive." Graham represented South Carolina in the United States Senate from 2003 until his death.
