Tennis player Bia Haddad announced her engagement to Alex Daoud on Wednesday, July 8. Daoud proposed using a letter he wrote when he was 10 years old for a time capsule project in August 2006, in which he wrote about what he liked at the time—taekwondo and soccer—his dream of becoming a neurosurgeon, and his life dream: "I want to help people and I want to marry Bia." Alex fulfilled his childhood ambitions, becoming a neurosurgeon in São Paulo and taking a step toward marrying the athlete. Haddad shared a photo of the letter and the engagement ring on social media, along with a heartfelt caption recalling their childhood together and how she initially turned down his first proposal when they were 9 years old.
