Criterion Games, the legendary UK studio behind franchises like Burnout and Star Wars: Battlefront, is rebranding as 'A Battlefield Studio' on its 30th anniversary, signaling its primary focus on EA's military shooter franchise. The studio's director of operations, Amy Pejic, acknowledged the industry's turmoil but stated that being part of the Battlefield family provides a stable foundation. Producer Stefan Wittlesburger highlighted a 'buzz' among staff and a focus on three core pillars: 'Dare, Deliver, and Delight.' While the studio worked extensively on Battlefield 6's single-player campaign, questions remain about the sustainability of the multi-studio approach, especially after layoffs earlier this year. Regarding the future of Criterion's racing roots, Pejic said management does not want to 'erase' the past but emphasized the studio's ability to adapt as a core trait moving forward, with its primary focus now on Battlefield.
