Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced hasn't set sail yet, but it's already doing better than Shadows on Steam

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, which releases on July 9th, is already on track to perform better than last year's Assassin's Creed Shadows on Steam. According to estimates by Rhys Elliott, head of market analysis at Alinea, the remake has already sold over 300k pre-order units on Steam ahead of launch, equating to "almost $14m in gross revenue." This means Resynced has sold 5.39x more copies on the PC platform than Shadows did during the same pre-release window. Elliott noted that because Black Flag carries nostalgia for the PS4-era crowd, it is expected to perform even better on PlayStation than on Steam. Shadows has shifted 5.7m copies globally to date, falling below 2018's Assassin's Creed Odyssey which had sold 10m copies as of March 2020. The article notes that Ubisoft is reportedly already working on a Resynced version of the original 2007 Assassin's Creed. Eurogamer awarded Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced three stars, calling it a "perfectly fine way of experiencing this tale."
