Chinese businessman Guo Wengui has been sentenced to 30 years in a United States prison. Guo, who publicly positioned himself as a vocal critic of the Chinese government, was found to have used that persona to attract followers. Authorities determined that he then exploited those followers by involving them in fraudulent investment schemes, leading to his conviction and lengthy sentence.
