Dutch soccer referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38 after being dropped from the World Cup. The Netherlands' football association (KNVB) expressed their condolences, calling him a "highly valued referee" and a "kind and dedicated colleague." His cause of death has not been publicly revealed. In April, Dieperink was arrested by the Metropolitan Police on suspicion of sexually assaulting a teenage boy, but the case was ultimately dropped due to lack of evidence. Following the arrest, he was removed from FIFA's list of officials for the World Cup in May. Dieperink had previously spoken out about the accusation, stating he was "wrongly accused" and expressing disappointment at being dropped from the World Cup despite fully cooperating with the investigation.
