Inside the Emmys 2026: Six big takeaways from the nominations

The 2026 Primetime Emmy nominations brought several surprises and snubs. "The Pitt" dominated with 25 nominations, while "Hacks" broke the record for most nominations in a single season for a comedy with 24. Newcomer "Widow's Bay" also earned 19 nominations. However, "The Bear" appeared to fall out of favor, scoring eight total nods but leaving out past winners Jeremy Allen White, Liza Colón-Zayas and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. Among the notable moments, Chase Infiniti earned her first Emmy recognition for "The Testaments," and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II broke through in the lead drama actor category for "Wonder Man," marking Marvel's first major Emmy recognition since "WandaVision." Sarah Pidgeon scored a nomination for her role in "Love Story," but her co-star Paul Anthony Kelly was snubbed. "Industry" was completely ignored for its fourth season, still holding zero Emmy nominations for its entire run. Two guest actors on "The Pitt," Brittany Allen and Jeff Kober, landed nominations through self-submitted campaigns without HBO's help. Other notable snubs included Kristen Bell, Adam Brody, Jon Hamm and Cailee Spaeny.
