The Grammy winner told Us Weekly exclusively that she would "love nothing more than that role," adding that "all of us have our fingers crossed, toes crossed." Rowland's recent Instagram tease, featuring a photo of the Queen of Disco, marks the most decisive hint at an upcoming biopic fans have seen thus far. Fans have drawn comparisons between Rowland and the late singer for years, with Rowland even dressing as Summer for Halloween in 2019. In 2024, Summer's daughter Brooklyn Sudano teased that a biopic is "in the works" and acknowledged the resemblance between her late mother and Rowland.
