South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham has died at age 71 from a brief and sudden illness, according to a statement from his spokesperson. Emergency services responded to a cardiac arrest call at his Washington D.C. residence, and his cause of death has not yet been publicly released. Graham, a close ally of President Donald Trump, served in the Senate from 2003 until his death, previously chairing the Senate Judiciary Committee and most recently serving as chairman of the Senate Budget Committee. South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster led tributes, calling Graham "irreplaceable," while Graham himself had recently thanked Trump for his endorsement in his successful primary campaign.
