An 84-year-old Florida man, Franklin Davis, has been arrested for allegedly setting a car on fire with his partner of 42 years inside after she ended their relationship. The incident occurred on July 3 at a 7-Eleven in Oakland Park. According to an arrest affidavit, Davis poured gasoline inside the car and ignited it with a lighter after an argument. The victim sustained third-degree burns to her leg, while Davis suffered burns to his hands and face. Security footage captured the incident. Davis was taken to the hospital and later arrested. He is being held without bond and has been charged with premeditated attempted murder, arson causing bodily harm, and criminal attempt to commit a capital felony. He made his first court appearance on July 6 in a wheelchair. The investigation is ongoing.
