Maternal Instinct's Taylor Parker Faced Disciplinary Action on Death Row

Taylor Parker, the subject of Netflix's documentary "Maternal Instinct," has faced disciplinary action while on death row in Texas. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice confirmed that Parker, 33, was caught sleeping on the prison floor with her mattress and disobeyed a guard's order to get up. It is not clear when the incident occurred or how she was punished. Parker was convicted of capital murder for killing her pregnant friend Reagan Hancock-Simmons and cutting out her unborn child in 2020. She had been lying about being pregnant and underwent a hysterectomy years earlier. Parker was sentenced to death in November 2022 and remains the youngest woman on death row in Texas. The documentary's director said the focus was intentionally kept on the victims rather than including interviews with Parker.
