Matt Damon Reflects on Childhood Dreams With Ben Affleck: ‘Bizarre Kids’

Matt Damon has reflected on his childhood friendship with Ben Affleck, describing them as "bizarre kids" who were serious about acting from a young age. Damon recalled that at 16 and 14 years old, they were going to New York together to audition, and their friendship was founded on that common experience. He said that 40 years later, they should make every single movie they can together. Damon explained that they started their Artists Equity production company in 2022 partly to live out their childhood dream. He noted that there's no "older brother, younger brother dynamic" between them, which is helpful when working creatively because the allegiance is to the project. Damon said their constant collaboration works because both are in a "new phase of life" focused on the pursuit of joy in their work.
