Mick Jagger Reacts to John Mulaney Saying He Was Not 'Nice' at ‘SNL’

Mick Jagger has responded to comedian John Mulaney's claim that the Rolling Stones frontman was not "nice" when they worked together on Saturday Night Live. In a 2019 comedy special, Mulaney recounted his experience as an SNL writer pitching sketches to Jagger, suggesting that Jagger's lavish lifestyle and decades of stadium performances had changed him as a person. Jagger, 82, told the New York Times Magazine that he had never seen Mulaney's special but agreed that his life is "not normal" and that it can cause a person to become "disassociated" from reality. He admitted that maintaining a huge ego is necessary for his career but said he actively fights against becoming alienated from the public by doing normal things like walking on the street alone. Jagger also reflected on how age has helped him learn to switch off his bombastic stage persona, comparing the challenge to method actors who struggle to shed their characters after a role ends.
