The report, cited by Nintendo Everything, indicates that serious talks are underway, though production would not start before the end of 2027, with a potential release in 2028. This would be roughly three years after the LCD model's launch, a shorter wait than the four-and-a-half years for the original Switch OLED. The report notes that Samsung Display is a likely supplier for the OLED panels, as it was for the original Switch. The upgrade could address complaints about the LCD screen's delay, ghosting, and imprecise HDR support. One insider claimed Nintendo is considering a resolution upgrade to FHD (1920x1080) for the handheld mode, which matches the Switch 2's native resolution.
