Brazilian federal deputy Erika Hilton has provided an update on the investigation into Sony after the company announced it will stop producing physical media for PlayStation 5 games starting in 2028. Hilton stated that the move violates Brazil's Consumer Protection Code and destabilizes the country's gaming ecosystem. Hilton reported that PROCON-SP (the São Paulo consumer protection agency) does not oppose Sony's transition to a fully digital environment, but the company must respect all consumer rights when the change takes effect. These rights include the ability to make digital games available to others, sell and lend both digital and physical games, and have freedom in how they use the product.
