id Software has posted a statement on social media insisting that despite recent job cuts, "we still have the crew we need to build the games and tech we're known for." The statement, which thanked players for support, said the team is about the same size as when making Doom 2016 and that the studio remains committed to its philosophy. The cuts were part of Microsoft's broader layoffs affecting Xbox divisions and studios, including Obsidian Entertainment, which reportedly lost a quarter of its staff and had to cancel multiple projects, including a sequel to Avowed, as Xbox shifted its focus to the Fallout franchise.
