Madonna Makes History After New Album 'Confessions II' Hits Billboard No. 1

Madonna made history when her new album *Confessions II* topped the Billboard 200 chart, marking her 10th No. 1 album. This achievement places her as the only artist aside from The Beatles to earn 10 No. 1 albums on the Billboard chart. The album, released on July 3, is the follow-up to 2005's *Confessions on a Dance Floor*. Madonna told Interview magazine that she decided to return to the recording studio after a planned biopic fell through due to budget disagreements with Universal Studios. She contacted former collaborator Stuart Price, thinking, "What if we tried to make *Confessions on a Dance Floor: Part II*?" The singer said she went through "darkness" while writing the songs but pushed through as a survivor. She celebrated the album's success with a "Club Confessions" pop-up in New York City on July 11, where she performed "School" and "One Step Away."
