Bryant questioned what Russini's husband, Kevin Goldschmidt, was thinking, after the family was spotted on a cruise over the Fourth of July weekend. The couple, who married in 2020 and have two sons, appeared to be engaged with one another according to an eyewitness. The scandal began in April when photos emerged of Russini and Vrabel together at a resort, with later photos showing them kissing and holding hands. Vrabel skipped the final day of the 2026 NFL Draft to seek counseling, while Russini resigned from her job at The Athletic amid an investigation. In her resignation statement, Russini denied having anything other than a professional relationship with Vrabel and said she was stepping aside to avoid further damage to her career.
