A new biography of the Rolling Stones, "The Rolling Stones: The Biography" by Bob Spitz, claims that the band members once tallied their sexual partners, with Bill Wyman stopping his count at 1,800. According to Spitz, Mick Jagger thought his total was in the hundreds, while Keith Richards counted only four. Spitz argues that this challenges the long-held assumption that Richards was the biggest womanizer, instead suggesting Wyman was the most promiscuous. The biography also details Wyman's controversial personal life, including his marriage to Mandy Smith when he was 52 and she was 18, a relationship that reportedly "revolted" Jagger. Spitz noted that while rock 'n' rollers have often gotten a pass for their behavior, as a biographer he feels a responsibility to examine these things. Richards, in contrast, has focused on the women who had the greatest impact on his life, particularly Anita Pallenberg and his wife, Patti Hansen.
