Survivor alum Rick Devens is trading the islands of Fiji for the Big Brother house. Entertainment Weekly reported on Tuesday, July 7, that Devens, 42, will be joining the season 28 cast. Devens may not be the sole Survivor alum competing for the $750,000 prize as another player, who has not been named, is expected to be on the cast, per the outlet. Devens first appeared on Survivor during the Edge of Extinction which aired in 2019. While Devens was the fourth person voted out of the season, he won his way back in the game. Devens went on to find multiple idols and win immunity challenges. Devens was the favorite to win the season but he ended up coming in fourth place, losing to eventual winner Chris Underwood in the fire-making challenge. Earlier this year, Devens returned to compete on Survivor in its milestone 50th season dubbed "In the Hands of Fans." The beloved news anchor — who was an alternate before officially making the cast — was a fan favorite due to his island shenanigans and was responsible for flipping the Mr. Beast coin to ensure that the season's cash-prize doubled to $2 million. News of Devens' casting comes hours after CBS announced the cast for Big Brother 28. In the initial announcement, 14 new players were introduced. CBS hinted on Tuesday that "additional surprise Houseguests will be revealed on air" during the Thursday, July 9, premiere. Devens joining the Big Brother cast is not the first time a Survivor alum has participated in the series.
